I thought it was based on imperium. But i've never managed to get hold of
copy of it. The multiplayer games network (www.mpgn.com) used to tun an
online version of the game, but this seems to have disappeared from their
list of games.

Dark Nebula could make an interesting PBeM game. At least with it's movement
system it only takes a couple of turns until you encounter the enemy. With
standard traveller movement it would take many turns until the players came
into contact.

One important point that i haven't seen mention is that the forces in
WWII/Korea/Vietnam were largely made up of draftees or reservists. An all
volunteer force, like the ones the Finns fielded against the Russians in
the Winter War, will have a much better rate of firing troops. They want
to be there!

Since the Imperial Army is the cream of regular forces (yes, I realize that
scum is an equally appropriate metaphor), they won't have this problem as
much as historical forces.

Another factor is the realism of training. The US Army's training methods
stress training the way you fight. Systems like MILES and training grounds
like the NTC at Ft. Irwin have revolutionized the way soldiers learn their
tasks.

The Imperial Army and Marines have incredible resources (like the ability
to rent entire continents as live fire ranges) and the technology to insure
that training is as real as combat, less the deaths.

That's not exactly how it worked. The axe was already poised for DC-XA
when they had the tip-over-and-fire due to a landing gear failure. The
Lockheed-Martin X-33 had been selected as the SSTO candidate on July 2,
1996. The accident with DC-XA occurred on July 31, 1996.

It's been suggested X-33 won the NASA competition because LockMart was
providing more of their own resources toward the project, and because
NASA liked some of its "sexy" technology (aerospike engines and so on).
The fact that DC-X was originally a BMDO project rather than a NASA
project might not have helped it either.

X-33 was supposed to enter flight testing in March 1999, but that's been
pushed back to next summer. Then they'll decide if that worked out, and
if approved, a full-scale "VentureStar" is supposed to fly in 2005.

It would be nice to have details of the noble ranks, how many of each there
is and what responsiblities they have, what area the rule etc. But I don't
think the book should dwell on that for too long.

Details of the Imperial court again would be good, but not too much.

Most of my traveller campaigns have been based around a small group of
Travellers (the PC's), their ship and the adventures they have. Any
supplements I buy should improve the game for the players within the frame
work of this campaign. What I'd like to buy is a book that expands and
explains the role of a Noble within the "standard" traveller game.

A book that explains what benefits and penalties a Noble can expect during a
game. Some work on explaining why a noble would want to go travelling would
be useful some help in detailing the nobles family and responsiblity, and
perhaps a system for generating the Nobles superior. A knight reports to a
baron etc but who is the baron what are his motives. This superior could
create a whole host of plot leads during the game as he used the PC's to
help him achieve his aims.

In short the book should have an overview of the Noble system, if the book
is to be Milieu specific then it should contain details of the current High
Ranked Nobility, the bulk of the book should expand the game for a Noble PC,
and perhaps at the back a Sample Yacht with deck plans, guided tour etc. and
make it a true nobles plaything and not just a merchant ship with extra
staterooms and a bigger jump drive, give it a dining room and a decent sized
Galley not just a standard starship galley. It should be like the QE2 not
the Isle of Wight ferry.
Well, I can't speak for any of his works beyond "Amusing Ourselves to
I don't think that it's going to happen, but I'd also have to compare the
number of new RPGers vs. the number of new CCGers. Here in the U.S., WotC
has a relatively strong television presence, and apparently WotC has been
Because ships, and not bases, can travel to dangerous places (of course, if
the base is in a dangerous place, then families shouldn't be on it either).

You might ask: well, "safe" bases get raided -- true, but so do "safe"
interest our North American customers. The shipment includes the new
adventures, The Khiidkar Incident and SpaceDogs, both GT and T4.x
stats and notes for other editions.

Math. So you can calculate the difference in years correctly using
normal figures. IIRC 'Zero' is an Arabic invention hence the AD/BC
switch over issues for the Roman Calendar. (ie the calendar goes 2BC
1BC 1AD etc so you can get errors). This is vague memories so someone
else feel free to chip in. It's also why the millennium changes on 31
Dec 00 not 31 Dec 99.

We have public (private/independent) schools, state schools (ie
funded by UK taxpayers) and Church schools (funded about 85% by
taxpayers, 15% by religions).
